Why I Make Art at Church
If you've been following me for a bit, you have probably seen that I occasionally create art live on stage at my church. We have four services over the weekend and I will be creating artwork for the full length of each ninety minute service, which are all the same. That's not a thing that happens at many churches and whether or not you are familiar with church world, you may have wondered why I do that. There's actually several reasons.
Did you ever have a butterfly net?
I did! I'm pretty sure that I had an unofficial catch and release protocol because I don't really remember what happened after I caught a butterfly, or if I really ever caught any. (Maybe my mom will remember and tell me, lol.) But I remember being enchanted by butterflies and I am pretty much still under their spell.
"Her Inner Light"
Her Inner Light is a captivating group exhibit showcasing the dynamic expressions of women artists, curated by Catherine Harris. In a world where every woman carries an indomitable spark within her, "Her Inner Light" pays tribute to the resilience, creativity, and vitality that define the female experience.
Finding a new path
There's nothing like the thrill of adventure in your own backyard. I take regular easy hikes along the trails that run along Dry Creek near my house. And recently I discovered a new single track trail that someone forged and then carefully marked out with bits of yellow caution tape.
It's Complicated
I have mixed emotions about Halloween. On the one hand, I have fond memories of being a child and dressing up as all kinds of things, getting scared at haunted houses and savoring candy for longer than most kids did. (I still take my time with whatever sweets I get!) When my kids were little, we did the same thing, taking them trick or treating, having fun with costumes, and being careful not to eat too much candy at once.
Iām not sure at what point certain aspects of the holiday began to bug me.
