They're Here — And One Is Already Gone
I just finished some new little pieces that I'm completely in love with. And one of them is already gone.
Restoration was claimed before it even had a chance to cool, so to speak. It was commissioned as a gift for a hummingbird collector and found its home before it ever found wall space in my studio. This is exactly the kind of work I love most: personal, intentional, made for a specific person and a specific space.
Because it just felt right, I created two more hummingbird pieces alongside the commission. All three were given titles drawn from what hummingbirds symbolize: restoration, delight, and resilience. I'm also sharing one more new piece here that found its way into the group.
These works are available now, but there's already been interest, so if something speaks to you, don't wait too long.
Resilience — A female Anna's hummingbird resting for a moment in a bottlebrush bush in a nearby neighborhood. I happened to be with my two-year-old granddaughter when I captured this image, and she was every bit as captivated by the tiny bird as I was. Photo transfer, acrylic, color pencil, wax pastel, ephemera, and a dried flower on an 8x6" cradled wood panel. $225. Purchase here.
Delight — A male Anna's hummingbird on the verge of taking flight from a winter tree in our local park. Layers of photo transfer, acrylic, color pencil, wax pastel, ephemera and a dried leaf on wood panel in an 8.5x6.5" reclaimed frame. $225. Purchase here.
Restoration — A male Anna’s hummingbird perched in a winter oak, a moment of stillness and strength. Sold.
Healing — Features Millie the millipede, a creature I rescued not too long ago. Titled for the healing that millipedes can symbolize, which felt especially fitting since I nursed Millie back to health before releasing her into my front garden. Photo transfer, acrylic, color pencil, wax pastel, ephemera and dried grass on wood panel in a reclaimed frame (6x5"). $135. Purchase here.
And of course, I'm always open to commissions. If you have a space that needs something made just for it, or a particular creature or plant you're especially fond of, reach out. I work with you on size and budget, and I love a good special request.
There is nothing quite like helping someone bring the hope and healing into their home that they've been dreaming of.
