Pollinating Dreams: A Home for Dreamers and Doers
Asking if you have any dreams feels a bit like asking if you're human. We all carry dreams and aspirations that call to us from the deepest parts of our souls. But how do those dreams come to life?
Sometimes it takes sheer determination, pursuing a goal step by step until it finally becomes reality. Other times, it's more subtle, quiet whispers of hope or moments of encouragement that slowly build into the courage we need to step out in faith.
Life coach Donna McGoff puts it beautifully:
“A dream is a seed. Vision plants it. Imagination nurtures growth. Opportunities create blooms. Thoughts become things."

That quote stayed with me as I reflected on my piece Pollinating Dreams. I often create intuitively, without a lot of conscious planning, and then return to the work later to discover what it was really about. In this case, it became clear that Pollinating Dreams—currently on view in the Membership Medley show at Blue Line Arts—is a visual metaphor for the inner work of growth.
In this house-shaped mixed media piece, bees hover with intention, a young tree takes root, and a small bird pauses at the threshold of something new.
It’s part of an ongoing series exploring the idea of home, not just as a place, but as a relationship with our environment. Our true home is the natural world, and we need to pay attention to the life all around us. I’ve spent (and continue to spend) a fair amount of time hunting for wood house structures to clean, prep, and transform, adding photo transfers, collage, layers of color, and just the right three-dimensional treasures to bring each piece to life.
For me, Pollinating Dreams is more than an artwork, it’s a quiet affirmation that imagination matters. That action, no matter how small, builds momentum. That creating—whether it’s a piece of art, a garden, or a new path in life—requires tending and trust.
And especially in the challenging times we’re living through, it’s a reminder of how essential it is to keep both dreaming and doing.
So I’ll ask you:
What dream is hiding like a seed in your heart?
Have you started to water it?
What small step could help it grow?
I’d love to hear about it.
And if you're local, be sure to stop by Blue Line Arts Gallery this month and spend some time with Pollinating Dreams and the many other wonderful artworks in the show.
